Letter of Recommendation

Mr. H.G.N. Kithsiri, Sri Lanka Tourist Guide Lecturer (license N2228, C-1379), was from August 18 until 31, 2023, my (Prof. Emeritus Dr. Dr.h.c. Dr.h.c. Manfred Domroes/Mainz University, Germany) and my colleagues’ (Ms. Christine Braun/High School Senior Teacher, and Mr. Heinz Goedde/Retired High School teacher and Research Fellow Aachen University, Germany) chauffeur and guide on our Sri Lanka study & research tour which took us from the Airport to :

> Colombo

> Galle

> Mirissa

> Yala National Park

> Wellawaya

> Bandarawela

> Kandy

> Negombo

and back to the airport .

During the tour which was well planned and prepared in close cooperation with the most experienced travel agency WALKERS TOURS in Colombo (Tour ref. WTLFG 87553), we captured in total 1,700 driven kms in a Van which led us to well-known tourist sites as well as to hidden and widely unknown sites to the average tourist, such as hydropower plants, irrigation projects and agricultural projects, and ancient Forts.  Permission of visiting such places was acquired by Mr. Kithsiri.  He planned and organized such visits with a great talent.

Mr. Kithsiri was a well qualified and experienced chauffeur throughout the tour, from the first day until the last day, without any risk amidst the partly chaotic traffic, Mr. Kithsiri managed to drive safely at all time.  Daily driving time was partly  prolonged, as also road conditions were disastrous at some places.  Yet, Mr. Kithsiri did not show any problems in managing safely the heavy road traffic.

Besides being a most qualified chaffeur, Mr. Kithsiri proved his unbeatable tour guide qualification at many sites en-tour.  It became evident that Mr. Kithsiri has acquired a profound knowledge on the huge number of exciting tourist attractions in Sri Lanka   As a result, me and my colleagues could learn a great lot of news about history, culture and to-day social life in Sri Lanka, what made me and my colleagues happy and thankful!  In this context I may mention that this tour was my 108th visit to Sri Lanka after my initial visit in 1967 when I was a young research fellow on the geography of Ceylon/Sri Lanka.

Mr.  Kithsiri patiently fulfilled all our wishes towards visiting distinct sites of our keen interest.  In no case, Mr. Kithsiri failed to reach sites of our special desire, even though many of them were located off the road.  Even taking us to remote and uncommon places, me and my colleagues got the impression that Mr. Kithsiri is well knowing his mother country everywhere.

Me and my colleagues were highly pleased that Mr. Kithsiri was our safe chauffeur and highly qualified tourist guide.  He did a perfect job in all respect.  What adds to Mr. Kithsiri qualification as an unbeatable guide is his gentle and warm personality that expresses great respect to the country’s dignity in culture and history.

My two colleagues join me in thanking you, dear Mr. Kithsiri, from the bottom of our hearts for all your outstanding and excellent services provided to us at our fullest satisfaction and happiness through wich you have given to us the opportunity of substantially expanding our knowledge that we have so far achieved about Sri Lanka from many visits in the past.

Without any objection, me and my colleagues do recommend Mr. Kithsiri as a chauffeur and tourist guide to every foreign visitor to Sri Lanka.  By his highly qualified services, Mr. Kithsiri will fulfill whatever wishes about Sri Lanka and demonstrating Sri Lanka as a country like no other.

With best wishes  and  warm regards and sincerest thanks,

Manfred Domroes  –                  Christine Braun   –  Heinz Goedde
